Faubus Library - Huntsville, Arkansas
The Faubus House became one of the most famous residences in Arkansas with the notoriety of Orvil E. Faubus and allegations of how could a Governor have such a house. And what a house it was, and is and it is a story in itself. But this is about the Faubus Library.
Ferrell Faubus the Governor’s only son was the person behind the library that was to be constructed near the main residence.
The Library would house all the memorabilia acquired from six terms as Governor. Ferrell started the project before the financing was in place and with his commitment and energy it would have been a boost to Huntsville as a site to visit, but his untimely death was also the end of the project.
All that remains of the project are the stone retaining walls and footings that were poured before the project was abandoned. I am sure years from now there will be questions about the stone walls. What was planned? How were they to be used? Did they go with the house in some way?
