St. Anthony Hospital Hays, Kansas
St. Anthony a Catholic Hospital is managed by the Sisters of St. Agnes from Fond du lac Wisconsin. The 107 bed general hospital is a new replacement facility. The site for the new Hospital will be on recently acquired property of approximately 100 acres northeast of Hays. The Hospital will be designed to provide a program that will reflect 1,000 sq. ft. per bed. The planning goal is to design for a private room facility. Private rooms allow for the most efficient occupancy.
The planning will allow for the logical expansion of all departments. The mechanical system will be a self contained power house that allows for individual comfort control in all areas including specialty area throughout the hospital.
The planning of the distribution system is based on the Gordon Freson (sp) supply cart system that utilizes separate cart elevators to move supplies throughout the vertical levels of the hospital. Each floor has utility rooms that receive clean supplies and returns soiled material. Efficiency in use of staff to move supplies is emphasized in this design.
The patient rooms also utilize the concept with clean and soil lockers that are stocked with clean supplies and hold soiled supplies until the respective cart makes rounds.
A Convent and Chapel are part of the St, Anthony Hospital Master Plan. The Main visitor entry to the Hospital is a shared lobby with the Chapel and Convent.
